Direct Construction Unit
The Direct Construction Unit (DCU) provides construction solutions to construction problems by providing timely and cost-effective services which are in the best interest of the State of California and its buildings. Construction may be of an indeterminate scope, within occupied buildings, and allow for minimum oversight by clients or tenants.
DCU also includes Central Plant which provides chilled water and steam to 23 State-owned buildings in the heart of downtown Sacramento. Central Plant allows DGS to gain continued savings in energy use and operating costs due to its LEED Platinum certification and efficiencies in providing reliable heating and chilling to buildings within its service network.
Also included in DCU is the Central Shop which provides the following services to the tenant and client buildings within the greater Sacramento area:
Part of DCU's comprehensive services also includes the Environmental Safety, Health, and Operations Program (ESHOP) which provides a safe and healthy working environment for all DGS employees, our tenants, clients, and facility visitors. ESHOP serves to provide regulatory compliance in fire prevention and protection, environmental protection, and occupational health and safety. Inspections are held annually and ESHOP recommendations are housed with each DGS-owned building's Building Manager.
