Notable Achievement

Awarded to departments that achieve 30 percent or higher for their small business participation goal and achieve 5 percent or higher for their disabled veteran business enterprise participation goal.

Most Improved Small Business Participation

Awarded to state departments for outstanding improvement over the previous fiscal year in their small business participation. Awards are presented to agencies in the following categories: extra-small, small, medium, large, and extra-large.

Most Improved DVBE Participation

Awarded to state departments for outstanding improvement over the previous fiscal year in their disabled veteran business enterprise participation. Awards are presented to agencies in the following categories: extra-small, small, medium, large, and extra-large.

Agency of the Year

Awarded to state departments or agencies for their best practices, creativity and outstanding achievements to advance the state’s SB/DVBE programs. In comparison to past performance, these departments continue to exceed goals and models the way for other state agencies.

Advocate of the Year

Awarded to SB/DVBE advocates for their outstanding achievements in supporting, promoting and contracting with SB/DVBEs. The advocates mentor others and actively engage the SB/DVBE community. 

Angel Carrera Leadership Award

Awarded to the leader who provided outstanding support to the efforts of their employees, program, and department in SB/DVBE contracting. This individual worked with their SB/DVBE Advocate, other leaders within their organization, and procurement staff to inspire and innovate their department’s SB/DVBE contracting practices.

Reciprocity Partner of the Year

Awarded to organizations that accept the state of California’s small business (SB) and/or disabled veteran business enterprise (DVBE) certifications who encourage and promote the state’s SB/DVBE program, and significantly use DGS’ SB/DVBE database for their procurements.

Secretary’s Special Achievement

Awarded to a state department, agency or individual whose best practices, innovation and advocacy efforts allow them to go above and beyond in exceeding the state’s SB/DVBE contracting goals.

Governor’s

Awarded to a state agency or department that best exemplifies excellence and innovation in providing contracting opportunities to SB/DVBE firms.

Green Award

Awarded to agency who have met their Small Business goals while proving their commitment to Environmentally Preferable Purchasing.
