The Office of Public School Construction’s (OPSC) Executive Officer Lisa Silverman joined local officials in a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for the John Muir Elementary School in Glendale, California.

The new building was completed using local bond funds and state School Facility Program Overcrowding Relief Grant funding. The project received approximately $3.7 million in state funding from the State Allocation Board.

The project increased the usable outdoor play area on campus by removing six portable classrooms and replaced them with a multi-story, permanent 10-classroom building featuring state-of-the-art technology and audio/visual systems. The building construction also bolstered the local economy through the jobs created to support school construction.
