The Department of General Services (DGS) has responsibility by statute for numerous business management functions and services that support various state agencies. To assist in ensuring that these activities are performed in an efficient and effective manner, it has implemented statewide policies and procedures. The Office of Audit Services (OAS) was created to provide an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve DGS operations. OAS helps DGS accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes.

OAS’ goal is to perform both a comprehensive internal and external audit function that will assist the director and other members of DGS in the effective discharge of their responsibilities. To this end, OAS furnishes analyses, appraisals, recommendations, counsel and information concerning the activities it reviews with the emphasis on the promotion of effective control at reasonable cost.
