DSA ACC Member, Mehdi Shadyab

The Division of the State Architect (DSA) is pleased to announce this charter member of the Access Code Collaborative (ACC). The following individual was selected for a specific constituency category, to ensure all stakeholder perspectives are considered in the collaboration efforts of the ACC. While each member has been selected for a specific constituency category, many members identify with more than one constituency group, which contributes to enhanced collaboration among the group.

Mehdi Shadyab, selected to represent code enforcers, has over 43 years of experience in plan review, enforcing building code requirements and, structural engineering design for variety of buildings, both multifamily residential and commercial projects. Since 1991, Mr. Shadyab has been involved with and has an extensive knowledge and experience in enforcement and development of the California accessibility regulations, both for commercial and public accommodations as well as for housing regulations.

Mr. Shadyab is a Certified Building Official, California registered Certified Access Specialist (CASp), and California registered professional civil engineer. He is an active member of the California Commission on Disability Access (CCDA) Checklist Committee and was a major contributor in developing and drafting the California Consumer Toolkit for The Restaurant Industry and accessible parking guideline.

Mr. Shadyab is also an active member of the California Building Officials (CALBO) Accessibility Committee. Mr. Shadyab is currently serving as the Past President and is the Accessibility Committee Chair for the San Diego Chapter of the International Code Council.
