California Building Standards Code Adoption Cycle Process

The deadline for state agencies to submit International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), CALGreen and National Electrical Code (NEC) changes to CBSC is February 1, 2021. The International Code Council (ICC) related code changes are due May 3, 2021. The proposed code changes include adoption of the 2021 editions of the ICC and IAPMO model codes and the 2020 edition of the NEC. The proposed code change submittals, including the text of the proposed changes and a detailed justification, and the phases of the 2021 Triennial Code Adoption Cycle will be available through links on the right. These code changes will result in the 2022 edition of the California Building Standards Code, Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations, effective January 1, 2023.
