Agencies/departments will maintain adequate control over sensitive and high-risk items that are prone to theft/loss, misuse, or may contain sensitive data.

Examples of sensitive and high-risk items include:

Computers, printers, scanners
Smartphones, tablets, other handheld devices
Devices or media capable of storing or processing information
TVs, audiovisual equipment, cameras
GPS devices
Weapons
Power tools
Works of art
Software

Agency/department heads will determine if additional items should be designated and tracked as sensitive and high-risk items. See SAM section 8643, Lost, Stolen, Or Destroyed Property, for mandatory reporting for sensitive and high-risk items.
