This Strategic Plan was initiated in 2016, after a year’s effort to assess each of DGS’ state-owned office buildings. From that analysis, the Real Estate Services Division (RESD) created a Ten Year Sequencing Plan that addressed DGS’ Sacramento office space needs. In 2018, RESD created a Portfolio Plan, that similarly governed DGS’ buildings outside of the Capitol. While these plans have been updated annually, this 2023 DGS Real Estate Strategic Plan combines both the Sequencing and Portfolio Plans into one, and demonstrates the Department’s vision for safe, sustainable, and collaborative workplaces, while transitioning excess buildings into affordable housing.
