Document Update - IR A-34: Cargo Containers Used As Laboratory Units
The Division of the State Architect's (DSA) recent published publication entails the placement of cargo containers designed for COVID-19 testing facilities on California's public school campuses.
DSA published an Interpretation of Regulation (IR) with criteria on placing cargo containers, designed as COVID-19 testing facilities, on public school campuses. IR A-34: Cargo Containers Used as Laboratory Units confirms DSA’s position on the use of cargo containers converted to laboratory pod units on public school campuses and clarifies the installation requirements.
In the interest of safely returning students and faculty to campuses across the state, DSA sees value in bringing these structures onto a campus. Additionally, DSA hopes there are opportunities for the testing facilities to be made available to the general public.
Please direct any questions regarding this new requirement to Craig Rush, Regional Manager, at craig.rush@dgs.ca.gov.
