DSA Client Services, In-Person and Virtual Meetings
Governor Gavin Newsom has declared California fully open for business. As clients begin returning to their respective offices, we are ready to support those who wish to resume in-person meetings with the Division of the State Architect (DSA). Beginning July 6, 2021, DSA offices will be open to clients who call in advance to schedule in-person meetings, including back check appointments and over-the-counter reviews. Scheduling in-person meetings ahead of time is imperative, as many DSA staff continue to telework and may not be in the office otherwise. Virtual meetings remain an option for client convenience; however, staff may also require in-person meetings for timely resolution of specific concerns.
We will provide plan review services in accordance with the following procedures:
Back check will continue to be on electronic files but can occur remotely (virtual) or in-person at a DSA office. The lead plan reviewers will ask about the meeting choice when scheduling the appointments with clients.
The virtual back check process will require design professionals do the following:
- Schedule your appointment for Electronic Back Check with the lead plan reviewer.
- Prior to the meeting, the lead plan reviewer will send you instructions via email as to how to connect via Microsoft Teams and Bluebeam. To prepare in advance for your remote back check, you can Download Microsoft Teams software for free for both Macs and PCs.
Clients will need to have access to a computer with speakers and microphone or telephone. A camera is not necessary.
Over the Counter (OTC) Reviews
OTC reviews will be on electronic files but can occur remotely (virtual) or in-person at a DSA office. Meetings are to be scheduled by calling the General Information phone number for the respective DSA office, listed on the Contact Us webpage. Further instructions will be emailed to the design professional.
Meetings with DSA Staff
When and where possible, the wearing of face masks and social distancing is still required in all DSA offices. DSA staff and clients vaccinated against COVID-19 are not required to wear masks. In order to maintain a safe and healthy work environment, we have taken steps to increase cleaning frequency of high touch areas within our office locations and have available hand sanitizer stations throughout the public areas of our offices for use by our clients. However, clients unable to attend an in-person meeting should contact the Supervisor for the respective discipline in the respective DSA Regional Office to ask for an accommodation in lieu of an in-person meeting.
Duration of Amended Procedures
DSA will implement these new procedures until further notice.
