DSA PSCC Member Steve Schneider
As a member of the PSCC, Steve serves as a Fire Life & Safety Representative
Steve Schneider, P.E. is a leading expert in fire protection and life safety and
serves as the Director of Fire Protection and Life Safety Engineering at Marx Okubo Associates.
His extensive expertise spans passive fire protection systems, fire suppression systems, and fire
alarm systems. Steve excels at solving complex engineering challenges by applying prescriptive and
performance-based code-equivalent designs, navigating diverse jurisdictional requirements and
working with Authorities Having Jurisdiction to ensure optimal client outcomes. His work includes
developing full-scope fire protection programs, consulting for system upgrades, and conducting
detailed Fire Hazard Analyses for government facilities.
Beyond his professional role, Steve contributes to the fire protection community:
- NFPA Building Construction (BLD-BLC) Committee Member: contributes to building code development and revision.
- Society of Fire Protection Engineering (SFPE) Professional Member: helped develop the SFPE PE Exam Review Course and co-authored the “Guidelines for Peer Review in the Fire Protection Design Process.”
- Alameda County Fire Advisory Commission, District 3 Commissioner: advises on local fire safety policy.
