Plan Review Timelines During Code Transition
The Division of the State Architect (DSA) advises districts and design professionals that it is facing unprecedented workload resulting from projects submitted to DSA in the final days of applicability of the 2022 California Building Standards Code
In October and November DSA received almost 600 projects with a total estimated project cost of $3.03 billion and anticipates over 300 projects with a total estimated project cost $3.57 billion for December, resulting in 900 projects with a total valuation of $6.6 billion submitted for DSA plan review and approval for the final three months of 2025.
Although DSA’s Plan Review Appointment Process is designed to eliminate potential delays, the number of projects submitted will cause a delay in DSA’s plan review and approval process of up to six weeks.
