The Division of the State Architect (DSA) is proud to announce the first California Sustainable Schools Showcase for 2024.

The goal of the California Sustainable Schools Showcase is to create awareness of strategies that can be implemented in the development of a path to zero net energy, zero carbon, and an overall healthy sustainable school from which other districts can learn.

Through exposure, DSA can share innovative ideas and technologies that enhance and create inviting, sustainable and energy efficient buildings that espouse the ideals of California’s environmental policies in schools.

DSA is pleased to announce that our sustainable schools showcase building for 2024 features Medea Creek Middle School, a campus project for Oak Park Unified School District that utilizes renovated shipping containers as classroom and restroom buildings situated around a central courtyard.

If there is a building or campus that exemplifies innovative sustainability or energy measures and deserves acknowledgement as a showcase, please contact the DSA Headquarters Architectural Codes and Policies Unit at (916) 445-8100.
