Portrait of Laura Rambin

Appointed by Governor Newsom on August 26, 2020
Appointment Expiration: January 1, 2023

Commissioner Rambin of Oakland is a principal architect at Studio Bondy Architecture. Laura has more than 20 years of experience working with non-profit clients and designing preschool through 12th grade educational environments throughout the Bay Area and Sacramento. She is involved in all phases of a project, beginning in the master planning and programming phases, and continuing through construction administration and project close out. She believes that building codes play an essential role in creating places that are safe and accessible to all people, and that it is the architect’s responsibility to seamlessly integrate good design with the practical considerations of accessibility, constructability, fire and life safety, and sustainability.

Laura received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Occidental College in 1991, and her Master of Architecture degree from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1995. She is a registered architect in California and is NCARB certified.

Laura has lived in California for over 30 years and has called Oakland home for the last 20.
