Surplus Real Property and State Owned Leasing and Development Section

The Surplus Real Property and State Owned Leasing and Development (SOLD) Section is responsible for the disposition of state-owned real property that has been declared surplus to future state needs and the leasing to non-state tenants of state-owned real property that is excess to the current programmatic needs of the DGS client agencies.
Portfolio Management Section

The Portfolio Management Section has expert knowledge of local commercial real estate markets and provides inventory management of state-owned and leased real property assets. It performs initial screenings of proposed projects for consistency with regional facilities plans and develops rent structures for DGS-owned buildings. It also prepares long-term forecasts and develops regional plans and implementation strategies for future state office requirements. Additionally, this section maintains an inventory of the state’s real property assets, which includes real estate holdings, surplus real property, state-owned structures and leased space statewide. It collects and validates data, and responds to information requests from the Department of Finance, the State Controller’s Office, internal DGS staff, legislators, other state entities and private sector parties regarding the state’s real property assets.
Real Estate Leasing and Planning Section

The Real Estate Leasing and Planning Section (RELPS) works with building owners to lease space to state agencies in property that is owned in the private sector. With over 1,800 active leases and 20 million square feet of leased space throughout the state of California, RELPS has a proven track record of delivering quality space that meets all state leasing standards, as well as managing these leases for state agencies.
