Public Auctions of State Surplus Personal Property

The Office of Fleet and Asset Management, Surplus Property and Reutilization is pleased to announce the State Surplus Property Auction is now open and available online. The public now can view surplus personal property from anywhere without having to travel to the State Surplus Warehouse. To view available surplus items, please go to www.GovDeals.com/StateofCalifornia.

Please note: If in the local area, online surplus items are available for viewing weekly on Thursday afternoon from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

Since all state surplus items will now be available utilizing this online auction format, both the December and February auctions have been cancelled.

Bidder and Payment Information

Beginning with the September 13, 2014 auction, the Department of General Services (DGS), Office of Fleet and Asset Management (OFAM) will:

  • No longer require a cash deposit to receive a bid paddle.
  • No longer accept cash for purchases or accept AMEX.
  • Only accept credit card or cashier's check as forms of accepted payment.
  • Each bidder is required to fill out a Registration Form (PDF) and present their driver's license or state I.D. before receiving a bid paddle on the day of the auction.
  • We only accept VISA, MasterCard, Discover, cashier’s check (exact amount only) as forms of final payment.

Catalog of Available Items

The Catalog of Available Items will be available approximately one week before the next auction.

Please note: We do not provide photos of each individual auction item. Items may be previewed the business day before the auction from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the day of the auction from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. To view photos of some of the auction items, please go to the Bendis Company website.

American Express (AMEX) Notice

Effective immediately, the Department of General Services (DGS), Office of Fleet and Asset Management (OFAM) can no longer accept American Express (AMEX) as a payment method. This action affects the following:

  1. Payment for personal property acquired at the Surplus Property auction, 1700 National Drive, Sacramento, CA 95834.
  2. Payment for personal property acquired at the DGS OFAM vehicle and equipment auction yard. 5950 Chiles Road, Davis CA. 95618.
  3. Initial payment for State Employee Parking.
  4. Payments for Van Pool program.
  5. Payment for short term, non-State Employee, Contractor Parking.
  6. Payment for parking by a State Employee while out on extended leave such as maternity or medical leave where a warrant is not issued.

These restriction must be adhered to until OFAM has a valid payment mechanism in place for AMEX. Notification will be sent once the merchant acceptance agreement is available.
