Public Auction Services

The Office of Fleet and Asset Management (OFAM) currently provides three types of public auction services to dispose of state vehicles, mobile equipment and surplus property: online, vehicle and surplus property.

Online Public Auctions

GovDeals.com provides services to government agencies facilitating the sale of surplus items on the internet. To find our current list of online surplus items listed on GovDeals, please do a search typing in "state of California." If you are interested in one of the items, you will be required to register as an official bidder online, and agree to the Terms and Conditions posted on the web page.

Surplus Automotive Equipment Auctions

Usually on the second Wednesday of selected months a public auction is held to dispose of state surplus vehicles and mobile equipment at our Davis Auction Yard. If you are in the market for a car, truck, SUV, van, alternative fuel vehicle, boat, trailer, golf cart or construction equipment then look no further.

The next Surplus Automotive Auction in Davis, California will be Wednesday, January 10, 2018.

Surplus Personal Property Auctions

Approximately every six weeks a public auction is held to dispose of state surplus personal property at the Surplus Property and Reutilization (SPR) Warehouse. Common items available are laptops, printers, cell phones, office furniture, computers, bikes, tools, cameras, jewelry and much more.

Please note: We do not provide photos of each individual auction item. Items may be previewed the business day before the auction from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and the day of the auction from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

State agencies and transporters disposing of state vehicles, equipment, and surplus property must call ahead to coordinate deliveries with staff for any state work day except the day of the auctions.

America Express (AMEX) Notice

Effective immediately, the Department of General Services (DGS), Office of Fleet and Asset Management (OFAM) can no longer accept American Express (AMEX) as a payment method. This action affects the following:

  1. Payment for personal property acquired at the Surplus Property auction, 1700 National Drive, Sacramento, CA 95834.
  2. Payment for personal property acquired at the DGS OFAM vehicle and equipment auction yard. 5950 Chiles Road, Davis CA. 95618.
  3. Initial payment for State Employee Parking.
  4. Payments for Van Pool program.
  5. Payment for short term, non-State Employee, Contractor Parking.
  6. Payment for parking by a State Employee while out on extended leave such as maternity or medical leave where a warrant is not issued.

These restriction must be adhered to until OFAM has a valid payment mechanism in place for AMEX. Notification will be sent once the merchant acceptance agreement is available.
