OAH is in the initial stages of drafting regulations for the Special Education Division. We would like to invite you to participate in a working group to assist in the development of the regulations for Special Education mediation and due process hearing cases at OAH. We would like the working groups to consist of a variety of stakeholders: parents, school district employees, attorneys, advocates, other law office employees, and other interested members of the community.
There will be two meetings held:
May 23, 2018 11:30am – 3pm
Van Nuys Office: 15350 Sherman Way, Ste 300, Van Nuys, CA 91406
May 30, 2018 11:30am – 3pm
Oakland Office: 1515 Clay St, Ste 206, Oakland, CA 94612
Participation is limited to 25 people in each location. In order to ensure a diverse working group and that there is enough room, not everyone who is interested may be able to attend. We would also like to request, if interested, that you commit to participating in the entire meeting to take full advantage of this collaborative opportunity.
Please let us know if you are interested by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, by May 9th. Please indicate in the email which location you wish to attend, your role as a stakeholder (parent, district employee, attorney, etc.) and contact information. Also let us know if you will need an accommodation or interpreter. You will be notified if you are chosen to attend no later than May 16, 2018.
Only participants actually at the location will participate in the working groups. Participation will not be available via computer and the sessions will not be recorded. If you cannot make it to the working group sessions, OAH will be engaging in the formal rulemaking process at a later date where there will be additional opportunity for public comment.
