| Tuesday, May 15, 2012 The Department of General Services announced today that it has centralized its fleet management services; closing garages and offices in Fresno, Los Angeles, Oakland and San Diego and moving operations to the State Garage on 1416 Tenth St. in Sacramento. DGS has also eliminated preventative maintenance in its Sacramento garage. The moves will help the department save more than $2 million annually.

| Friday, May 11, 2012 Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. has declared the month of May as ‘California Small Business Month.’ Currently, more than 26 percent of California's business is done by small businesses. The Department of General Services has certified more than 20,000 small businesses, of those, more than 13,000 are Disabled Veteran Business Enterprises.

| Monday, September 19, 2011 The Department of General Services announced today that the state’s central utility plant has become the third state facility to receive LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Platinum, the highest level of “green” building design certification awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council. The central utility plant provides chilled water and steam to cool and heat 23 state-owned buildings in downtown Sacramento.
