The governor presented May with a letter of appreciation for her service to the people of California and talked for about ten minutes, discussing everything from current projects May is working on for DGS, to the days when May worked under the governor’s father during the Edmund G. “Pat” Brown administration.

May started her state career in 1943 as an accounting officer with the Department of Finance before moving to the Department of General Services in 1963. She celebrates her 92nd birthday later this month.

Dear May;
Congratulations on your 70 years of service... and Happy Birthday to you also. You are an inspiration to many. Was a pleasure seeing you when I worked at the Ziggurat. Best to you and yours.
