Office of Public School Construction Participates in New School Opening in Palmdale
The Office of Public School Construction’s (OPSC) Executive Officer Lisa Silverman joined local officials in a grand opening ceremony on September 28 for the Gregg Anderson Academy Elementary School in Palmdale.
The project provides 864 Westside Union School District students a place to learn, while the construction of the school bolsters the local economy through the creation of over 400 jobs and the purchase of building materials.
The project received $11 million in state funding from the State Allocation Board’s
(SAB) New Construction Program for the construction of 37 K-6 classrooms. Additionally, facilities such as administration, library, and a multipurpose room were constructed. The funding also allowed for the purchase of 17.07 acres of land on which to build the new elementary school.
The New Construction Program
provides state funds on a 50/50 state and local sharing basis for eligible projects that add capacity to a school district.
OPSC, on behalf of the Department of General Services and the SAB, implements and administers a $35 billion voter-approved school facilities construction program.
