DGS-managed Project for State Parks Gets Underway
The Department of General Services joined California State Parks and other government officials today for a ground breaking ceremony to mark the start of construction of the Consolidated Operations and Museum Collection Center at McClellan Business Park in Sacramento.
California State Parks stores approximately 1.5 million historic objects and 2 million artifacts in multiple warehouse storage facilities in West Sacramento.
With several leases expiring this year, DGS obtained lease proposals that would allow California State Parks to consolidate from multiple facilities into a centralized location. The DGS-managed consolidation project is expected to generate approximately $1 million in cost savings through increased operational efficiencies, reduced energy costs, and lower lease rates.
