State Announces $520 Million for Shovel-Ready School Construction

The State Allocation Board (SAB) announced today that it has awarded approximately $520 million for shovel-ready school construction projects across the state. The state matching funds will help finance 230 school construction projects within 92 school districts. Funds for these projects are provided by bonds authorized under Propositions 1A, 1D, 47 and 55.

The Department of General Services co-sponsored the 2013 California Disabled Veteran Business Alliance's "Keeping the Promise" event in Anaheim on May 13th.
More than 600 Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) firms attended the two-day event where they connected with DGS and ten other state departments to learn how to find and compete for state contracting opportunities, as well as the advantages of being a
state-certified business

Office of Public School Construction Helps Dedicate New High School in Rancho Mirage

The Office of Public School Construction’s (OPSC) Executive Officer Lisa Silverman joined local officials in a dedication ceremony on May 10 for the new Rancho Mirage High School in Rancho Mirage.
The new facility in Riverside County provides learning space for 2,484 Palm Springs Unified School District students, while the construction of the school bolstered the local economy through the creation of approximately 950 jobs and the purchase of building materials.
