Deputy Director, Real Estate Services Division (RESD)
Sheral Gates was appointed by Governor Brown as the Deputy Director for the Department of General Services (DGS) Real Estate Services Division (RESD) in July 2012. Sheral brings more than 30 years of public service experience in real estate to the position of Deputy Director of RESD.
Prior to her appointment, Sheral was Chief of the Professional Services Branch (PSB) of RESD since November 2009. PSB provides a wide variety of services and expertise including architecture, engineering, space planning and interior design, environmental services, cost estimating, real estate acquisitions, program and project management, the DGS green and sustainable buildings program, leasing and lease management (private sector and state-owned property), appraisals, due diligence, appraisal review, and toxic site investigation and remediation.
Sheral’s previous experience with RESD also includes serving as the Assistant Chief of PSB, performing for seven years as a portfolio manager in the Asset Management Branch, and as a senior real estate officer. Sheral’s experience provides her with a global perspective on state real estate activities and allows her to capably serve the DGS Real Estate Services Division.
