| DGS’ OFFICE OF PUBLIC SCHOOL CONSTRUCTION EXECUTIVE OFFICER RESIGNS | ||||||||||||||||||
Sacramento—The Executive Officer of the Department of General Services’ (DGS) Office of Public School Construction (OPSC), Ted Dutton, has announced his resignation effective July 31. OPSC is the administrative staff for the State Allocation Board, which authorizes financial assistance to school districts for new school construction and modernization projects, the Deferred Maintenance Program, and the State Relocatable Classroom Program.
"School districts are getting their construction projects funded faster thanks to Ted Dutton’s leadership," said DGS Interim Director Cliff Allenby. "He quickly implemented program changes mandated under SB 50 that enabled the state to allocate over $1.7 billion in school construction projects since the first of the year. I’d like to personally thank him for a job well done."
Ted Dutton has served as OPSC Executive Officer since 1996. During his tenure at OPSC, Dutton’s office streamlined the process of getting public schools built by drastically reducing the paperwork required to qualify for funding and developed a "tracking system" on the Internet enabling school districts to track the progress of their projects. Prior to OPSC, Dutton served as chair of the State Employment Training Panel and as a member of the California Fish and Game Commission.
OPSC Deputy Executive Officer Luisa Park has been named Interim Executive Officer.
