DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES’ REAL ESTATE OFFICES MOVING TO NEW LOCATION
Sacramento—The California Department of General Services’ (DGS) Real Estate Services Division (RESD) is relocating to the new Douglas R. Watkins office building at 1102 Q Street in downtown Sacramento consolidating 576 employees currently working at three separate locations. The consolidation, due to be completed August 1st 1999, will provide greater operational efficiencies.
 
The six-story Watkins Building, owned and developed by the Watkins Company, features approximately 150,000 square feet of office space in its top four floors along with two-and-a-half stories of parking space. The location also houses California Community College offices.
 
DGS’ Building and Property Management Branch employees will continue to be located at 1304 O Street, and the Energy Assessments Section of the Professional Services Branch staff will remain at 717 K Street in Sacramento.
 
DGS’ Real Estate Services Division provides real estate services to all state agencies including construction and project management, architectural and engineering services, property sales and acquisitions, and building maintenance.
