NEW CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION HEADQUARTERS DEDICATED IN SACRAMENTO

Sacramento-Governor Gray Davis today announced the opening of the new California Department of Education headquarters in downtown Sacramento, the state's first "green" office building.
"This beautiful building honors the critical mission of the state to educate California's children," Governor Davis said. "Its sustainable design also demonstrates the state's commitment to environmental protection and energy efficiency."
The 336,000 square foot, six-story office building will house an estimated 1,100 Department of Education employees, including the office of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction.
