DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES
SELLS SURPLUS PROPERTY ON-LINE
Sacramento : The California Department of General Services (DGS) today announced it is making surplus State property available to the general public via eBay, one of the most-widely used auction sites on the Internet.

"This experimental e-government solution will further the state’s commitment to recycling surplus materials," said DGS Interim Director Cliff Allenby. "Not only does the environment win, but so will bidders who can obtain some great bargains."

DGS’ on-line surplus property sales are currently focusing on "specialty" items such as golf clubs, cameras, watches, and bicycles that have been seized by the California Highway Patrol. The more traditional surplus items—desks, chairs, file cabinets—are not offered via eBay at this time. DGS also makes surplus State property available to the general public on a "cash-and-carry" basis Monday through Friday at warehouses located in Sacramento and Fullerton. For more information contact 916-928-4630.
