Statewide Building Closures and Impacted DGS Operations

STATE BUILDING OPERATIONAL STATUS ON FURLOUGH DAYS

 

To our valued clients and customers:

The Department of General Services supplies a wide variety of services to other state agencies, schools and nonprofit organizations.  In response to the governor-ordered furloughs for all employees, DGS is working to maintain continuity of services wherever necessary. Information regarding closures will be posted as it is received.  Please check back frequently as the information is subject to change.  If you have questions, please e-mail us at: dgsfeedback@dgs.ca.gov.

Scheduled furlough days:  First and third Fridays of every month until June 30, 2010.


Below are status reports for various DGS offices:

  • Real Estate Services Division operations will be CLOSED, with the exception of building management staff that will support the open buildings listed in the spreadsheet above. 
  • The Office of Fleet and Asset Management will be CLOSED; however, the state garage in Sacramento will remain OPEN. All other garages will be accesible with an electronic card key.
  • The Office of Public Affairs will have staff available on an on-call basis at (916) 376-5037.
  • The Telecommunications Division will be CLOSED; however, The Office of Public Safety Communications Services will provide a toll-free, 24-hour maintenance hotline.  For communications maintenance or service, customers can call (888) 657-6577, or in Sacramento, (916) 657-9999.
  • The Office of State Publishing will be CLOSED to the public.
  • All Division of the State Architect offices (Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, Riverside and Oakland) will be CLOSED on the furlough day.  No services will be provided on those days.
  • The Procurement Division will be CLOSED which includes the Office of Small Business
  • Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) Special Education Division (Sacramento, Van Nuys and Laguna Hills):
    • February:  All three of OAH's Special Education Division offices will remain OPEN.
    • March and thereafter:  All three of OAH's Special Education Division offices will be CLOSED until the Executive Order expires or is rescinded.
  • OAH's General Jurisdiction Division (Sacramento, Oakland, Los Angeles and San Diego):
    • February:  All four of OAH's General Jurisdiction Division offices will remain OPEN.
    • March:  All four of OAH's General Jurisdiction Division offices will be CLOSED.
    • April:  All four of OAH's General Jurisdiction Division offices will remain OPEN.
    • May and thereafter:  All four of OAH's General Jurisdiction Division offices will be CLOSED until the Executive Order expires or is rescinded.
  • The Office of Public School Construction will be CLOSED.
  • The Accounting Office will be CLOSED.  Accounting services including payroll, check issuance and ABMS support for internal DGS units as well as external customers and client agencies will be unavailable.
  • The Budget and Planning Office will be CLOSED.   Budget and planning services for internal DGS units as well as external client agencies (State and Consumer Services Agency, Department of Finance, Legislative Analyst's Office, legislative consultants, etc.) and other customers, including budget inquiries, requests and drills will be unavailable.
  • The Contracted Fiscal Services Office will be CLOSED.  Accounting and budgeting services for client agencies, including payroll, check issuance as well as budget inquiries, requests and drills will be unavailable (a list of clients is available upon request).
  • Office of Human Resources will be CLOSED.  Payroll services will not be available to DGS internal staff or clients (a list of clients is available upon request).
  • The Office of Risk and Insurance Management (ORIM) will be CLOSED, and will not be processing motor vehicle claims on behalf of all departments and foster care claims on behalf of the Department of Social Services (DSS). In addition, the Natural Gas Program offices will also be closed, but staff is on call for any matters that need immediate action or response at (916) 871-2025.
